With over 400 years of layered-history, Hyderabad has also accumulated its own set of legends and stories. We believe in keeping an open mind as history is not linear and hence, weaving in stories are also equally important. Here’s a glimpse of some of the places that our city has to offer.

Golconda fort WalK:
One of India’s most impregnable forts, the historical Golconda fort is the stuff of legends. Once the gateway to diamond trading in the mediaeval world, the fort predates Hyderabad itself. At The Hyderabad History Project, we also take you to parts of the fort that are not accessible easily otherwise.

Charminar Walk
A stunning piece of architectural beauty in Hyderabad, the Charminar is undoubtedly a monument worth its hype. Built as the foundation of Hyderabad, the structure is adorned with Indo-Persian motifs from the 16th century. At our walks, we don’t just visit monuments, but immerse you into a different world.

British Residency Walk
The British Residency in Hyderabad is one of the most beautiful european structures that was built by the British East India Company after it signed a treaty with Hyderabad’s Nizams in 1798. Aside from its neoclassical inspired design, the Residency is also home to a lot of stories about the British and is a key site to understand the dynamics between the Nizams and the crown.

Qutb Shahi Tombs Walk
Undoubtedly one of the largest necropolis complexes in India, the Qutb Shahi tombs is a 106-acre heritage site where the founders of Hyderabad of the Golconda dynasty (1518-1687) are buried across seven generations. The site houses some of the most stunning architecture one can find in Hyderabad

Chowmahalla Palace Walk

Baadshashi Ashoorkhana
–A very underrated site, the Baadshahi Ashurkhana is the second oldest monument in Hyderabad, built a year after the city was founded in Hyderabad. What makes it stunning are its mosaic Persian tiles.

Bidar Walk
At the crossroads of history in the 15th century, Bidar was the second capital of the Bahamani dynasty (1347-1518). About 140 kilometres away from Hyderabad, the city is a day trip which includes seeing some of the most beautiful sites in the Deccan like the Bahamani tombs and the Bidar fort.

Paigah Tombs Walk
The Paigah tombs houses the dead of the only family that has its own tombs apart from the founders. Built in exquisite marble, the tombs complex is simply a must see due to its unique blend of architecture.

Food walks
No walk of ours is devoid of food, because we believe that a full stomach is the key to real happiness! And history also includes food, either in the form of delectable kebabs or Pathar Ka Gosht, or other traditional items from Hyderabad cuisine. Our city is a food lover’s paradise, and our walks can also be tailored to accommodate the best it has to offer.

Secunderabad Walks
People often forget that Hyderabad and Secunderabad are twin cities, with the latter being the younger one. And Secunderabad in fact is the perfect way to understand and explore our city’s colonial aspects. With old churches to Irani cafes, the former British cantonment has its own vibe going.
